Thank You Station 50!

November 7, 2023 – Members of Station 50 Hammonds Plains Volunteer Firefighters Society presented a Zoll AED defibrillator to Hammonds Plains Community Centre.   The Firefighters Society raises funds through the Nova Scotia Firefighters weekly 50/50 lottery.  The Society donated the AED to HPCC recognizing the facility is a busy community hub and the need exists for more of these units in the community.   HPCC is thankful for the generous donation and is pleased to be able to make the AED unit available to users of the facility and the wider community.   The firefighters do a tremendous job supporting the Hammonds Plains community, and in particular, 54 years of supporting our community hall.   Thank You Station 50!

Fun fitness and activities continue this Fall!  Andrea’s Music Studio offers in-person and online lessons Monday through Friday.  Bounce Fitness has Tuesday and Thursday morning Strength & Tone classes, as well as Tuesday and Thursday evening Interval Training and Cardio Kickbox classes.  New Stars Dance School offers a kids dance program on  Wednesday and Friday evenings and an adults bellydance class on Wednesdays.  Welcome Stephanie from Chameleon Yoga!  She will continue the Monday evening  Vinyasa and Restorative yoga classes.  VON (Victoria Order of Nurses)’s Adult Day Program continues on Wednesdays 10am to 3pm.  Sportball offers Saturday and Sunday multi-sport program for kids 16 months to 8 years old.

Newly Renovated Bar!

The Bay Treasure Chest‘s weekly 50/50 Toonie Draw is available to play at 18 locations around the St. Margaret’s Bay area, including three in Hammonds Plains (Peppertoni’s, Edible Matters, Shell/Needs). Support of this community lottery has been critical for funding operations and improvements to over a dozen non-profit organizations, including Hammonds Plains Community Centre.  Thank you for playing!

NEW VENUE – Meeting Room / Kitchen

The kitchen at Hammonds Plains Community Centre has been fully renovated in August 2016!  Check out the full project details here.  We are so pleased to bring this bright, beautiful space to the community!

The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, double-oven range and a commercial dishwasher.  It is a fully inspected facility and has been issued the Nova Scotia Food Establishment Permit.

The large space (17×19′) doubles as a meeting room.  It can be set up boardroom or classroom style and can seat 12 people in new comfortable leather chairs.  It can also be set up theatre style with seating for 20-30.  The room features a high-definition ceiling mounted projector, whiteboard and flip chart.
