Believe it or not, there are over 400 species of birds in Nova Scotia! The most informative book on birds in Nova Scotia is Birds of Nova Scotia by Robie Tufts. It has been a fixture on the bookshelves of bird lovers since the first edition was published in 1961. Not only is it an excellent resource for anyone wanting to know about the birds that visit Nova Scotia, it is a pleasure to read, full of interesting observations, amusing anecdotes and beautiful illustrations.

The Nova Scotia Museum has graciously published the book to the World Wide Web in hopes of encouraging dialogue among bird lovers, and perhaps one day, providing readers with complete, up-to-date coverage of Nova Scotia's avifauna.

It should be noted that since Birds of Nova Scotia was last published in 1986, several new species have been recorded in the province, and the status of some of the birds has changed, however, this book is full of information about our birds. CLICK HERE and enjoy!
