A Bit About My Background |
Gary Meade has been a life long resident of District 23. He and his wife Marilyn, reside on Oakland Point Lane, Head of St. Margaret's Bay, with their two children Matthew and Sarah. Gary was first elected to Halifax County Council in 1988. On April 1, 1996, Halifax Regional Municipality came into existence - the amalgamation of the former Cities of Halifax and Dartmouth, and the former town of Bedford and the municipality of the County of Halifax. Gary did not re-offer as he was in a conflict of interest situation - being a City of Halifax Engineering Department employee. He retired in September 1999 and in 2000 he was successful in winning the District #23, St. Margaret's - Prospect seat. |

Councillor Meade current serves on the following: Community Monitoring Committee, Private Streets Committee, Solid Waste Resource Advisory Committee, Summerfest Committee, Peggy's Cove Commission, Community Liason Committee, Recreation Associations, Access-a-bus Committee, the Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities, and the St. Margaret's Bay Lions Club. Former volunteer for the Boy Scouts of Canada. |
