The history of
the game has been well documented in many books over the years and is
generally considered to have originated by the Scots. The Sterling
stones of 1511 and a poem by Walter Watson certainly identify the
game played on the lakes of Scotland. Regardless, terminology
suggests that the Dutch may have founded an early version of the game

Halifax
awarded 2005 Canadian Curling Trials

The 2005
Canadian Curling Trials will be played at the Metro Centre in
Halifax, Nova Scotia, December 3-11, it was announced today by the
Canadian Curling Association (CCA).
The
Trials will select both the mens and womens
curling teams which will represent Canada at the 2006 Olympic Winter
Games in Torino (Turin), Italy. The 10 mens and 10 womens
teams will compete in a round robin format, leading to a playoff in
which the first place teams advance to their respective finals, while
the second and third place teams meet in semi-finals. Read
